Sexual Harassment Toolkit
Toolkit collated by Jess Leigh
Preventing sexual harassment at work is both a legal duty and a step toward a safer, more inclusive workplace. The UK’s new law, effective October 2024, strengthens employers’ responsibility to prevent harassment before it happens. Under new law employers have a duty under the Equality Act 2010 will require employers to take “reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment of their employees. This collection of resources provides key resources to help employers and employees create a culture of accountability, respect, and safety.
The Diverse Educators’ Sexual Harassment Toolkit
We are collating a growing bank of resources to help you identify and address sexual harassment in your workplace. Here are some questions to reflect on:
- How does workplace culture enable or prevent harassment?
- How do factors like gender, race, or disability shape experiences?
- What does the new law require, and are reporting mechanisms clear, safe, and effective?
- How can workplaces move from reacting to harassment to preventing it, and what training or leadership actions can help?
- How does your workplace handle reports, what support exists for those affected, and how can accountability drive real change?
