Class 13
We support dedicated educators to build equitable practices while navigating a stressful environment. Our affirming approach fuels systemic transformation, nurturing mental health, and reducing exclusions.
In a world of quick fixes, Class 13 takes a different path. We know true equity takes time and collaboration. That’s why we focus on building a community of committed educators who work together to tackle the root causes of inequity and transform their classrooms.
Through our Foundational Learning training and long-term partnerships, we equip educators, youth professionals, and communities with the tools to recognise and dismantle systemic barriers. We move beyond surface-level solutions, ensuring equity is embedded in the structures, policies, and relationships that shape education.
By putting equity and relationships at the heart of education, we’re not just reimagining schools—we’re reshaping the future.
At Class 13, we take a unique approach, grounding our work in deficit ideology—an ideology once described as “the perfect crime.” It silently drives political and social actions, making inequity seem natural while shifting blame onto young people and their families. Schools default to this thinking, citing “poor homes” or cultural and linguistic “deficiencies” as reasons for failure.
But deficit ideology doesn’t stop at education—it fuels victim-blaming narratives in housing, employment, and social justice. That’s why true equity demands more than new strategies—it requires an ideological shift.
